12 Zodiacs: Habanero's Chinese Horoscope Slot

Chinese Zodiac Theme and Design

The game is framed by ornate stone statues on either side of the reels, with the playfield set against a temple-style backdrop. The premium symbols are the twelve zodiac animals: the Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog and Pig. Lower-value symbols use the familiar 10, J, Q, K and A card ranks dressed in matching gold detailing. Animations are understated and the soundtrack stays gentle, so the presentation feels closer to a traditional reel game than a high-energy modern release.

Reels, Paylines and How It Pays

12 Zodiacs uses a 5x3 grid with 18 paylines. Crucially, those lines pay both ways: matching symbols register whether they begin on the leftmost reel or the rightmost one, which roughly doubles the directions a winning combination can form. Because winning runs can build from either side, even a partial cluster of zodiac animals can connect across the grid more often than on a left-to-right-only machine. You set your stake with the bet controls beside the spin button, and an autoplay option is available for hands-off sessions.

The Moon Wild and Sun Multiplier

The standout symbol is the Full Moon wild, which lands on reels 2, 3, 4 and 5 and substitutes for every symbol except the scatter. Its extra trick is a transformation: the Moon can turn into a Sun, and when it does it triples any win it helps complete. Because the wild only appears on the four right-hand reels, it pairs naturally with the both-ways payout system, helping link symbols that started building from the right edge of the screen.

Lantern Scatter and Free Spins

The Chinese Lantern is the scatter. Landing three or more anywhere on the reels awards a set of free spins, and the round can be retriggered if more lanterns appear while it is running. The free spins use the same both-ways paylines and the same Moon-to-Sun wild behavior as the base game, so the multiplier potential carries straight into the feature rather than being reserved for a separate bonus mode.

RTP and Volatility

12 Zodiacs runs at a default RTP of 96.1%, which sits right around the industry norm, though operators can sometimes configure alternative return settings. The volatility is medium, meaning wins arrive at a reasonable pace without the long droughts of a high-variance title. Combined with the both-ways paylines, the model is geared toward keeping a session ticking over rather than chasing rare, oversized payouts. As always, RTP is a long-term theoretical figure and does not predict the outcome of any single session.

Mobile Play and Free Demo

The layout scales to portrait and landscape, and the controls are sized for touch input. The free demo is the easiest way to see how often the Moon wild lands and how the Lantern scatter triggers the free spins. If you enjoy the relaxed, traditional feel, Habanero's 5 Lucky Lions and Little Green Money are worth a look, while Sparta offers a more action-driven alternative.
