Deadcode opens on a 5×5 grid with a tech-corruption aesthetic — glitching code, corrupted terminals, and a corporate-surveillance vibe. Wins happen by landing clusters of three or more matching symbols horizontally or vertically. When a cluster wins, those symbols vanish and new ones drop down from above (the cascading mechanic). Each cascade adds +1 to a Global Multiplier that keeps climbing throughout the round.

Every column has its own Collector bar at the bottom. Symbols that contribute to wins fill the column's Collector. Once a bar is full, a Subroutine feature fires. There are five: Mystery X transforms symbols in a diagonal X pattern into a single type; Terminate removes one to three lower-value symbol types from the grid; Upgrade converts a chosen symbol type up to the next value tier; Refactor seeds several positions with feature symbols; and Refresh expands the grid by one row or clears blocking symbols. Subroutines often stack with each other when multiple Collectors fill in the same round, which is where the big cascades build.

The Breach triggers randomly when a round ends without a win. It locks winning and feature symbols in place, replaces the non-winning paying symbols, and gives the grid a second chance to form clusters. It functions as a safety net that can restart a cascade chain from scratch.

Bonus Round

Three Bonus scatter symbols anywhere on the grid trigger the Bonus game, which runs for seven drops. If one of those three scatters is a Super Bonus type, every drop in the round is guaranteed to activate one to five Subroutine features — that is the Super Bonus mode. The Global Multiplier carries forward into the bonus, so a long cascade chain inside Super Bonus is the main path to high payouts.
