Hocus Pocus Deluxe casts its spell over a five-reel grid where an old sorcerer conjures wins across 40 fixed paylines. Released by Merkur Gaming, it pairs a classic fairy-tale magic theme with one genuinely modern touch: tumbling symbols.

The setup is straightforward but generous with its win ways. Five reels feed 40 fixed lines, meaning every spin covers the full board with no option to trim coverage down. Low-value symbols come from stylised geometric shapes, while the higher tier leans into the theme with a potion bottle, a magic book and the bearded wizard himself, rendered closely enough that you can pick out the wrinkles on his face. It is a clean, readable layout that keeps the focus on the cascade rather than on screen clutter.
The tumbling-reels mechanic is the heart of Hocus Pocus Deluxe. When you land a winning combination, those symbols vanish and the spaces above shuffle down to fill the gaps. Any fresh win that forms repeats the process, and the cascade continues until no new combinations land. Because the paylines are fixed at 40, every drop has plenty of opportunity to connect, which is what turns one base spin into a potential run of stacked wins.
The Hands symbol acts as the wild, substituting for every symbol except the Crystal Ball scatter to complete the highest possible line win. The Crystal Ball is the scatter and the key to the bonus. Land three or more anywhere on the grid and you trigger the free spins round, which awards a set batch of free games. During those spins the cascade mechanic stays in play, so the same tumbling chains that drive the base game carry over into the feature.
The volatility is medium, striking a balance between the steadier drip of cascade wins and the larger hits that come from the free spins. That combination suits players who want regular action without the punishing dry spells of a high-variance slot.
The stake range is broad enough for cautious and bolder players alike, scaling from a small minimum spin up to a high ceiling per spin. Merkur also includes its familiar gamble feature, letting you risk a win on a double-or-nothing guess after a paid spin. As always, it is optional and best treated as a side bit of fun rather than a strategy.
The demo plays identically to the full version, so it is a fair way to judge whether the wizard's brand of magic suits your style.
This is a solid pick if you enjoy tumbling-reel slots with a light, classic theme and a high RTP backing your sessions. The cascade keeps the base game lively, the free spins give the round something to build toward, and the medium volatility keeps swings reasonable. If you want a more elaborate slot stuffed with pick-me bonuses, expanding grids or jackpot side bets, this one will feel modest by comparison. But for a clean, well-paying cascade slot, it earns its place.
