Meet the Monkey King in Playtech's Sun Wukong

RTP and Volatility

Sun Wukong returns 96% to players over the long run, which sits right around the industry average and gives you a fair, predictable baseline. The volatility is high, so expect the swings that come with that profile: stretches of small or no returns punctuated by larger hits, most of which arrive through the free games. It is a game that rewards patience and a balance that can absorb the quieter spells rather than one that drip-feeds steady wins.

The Monkey King Wild and Scatter

The headline base-game symbol is the Monkey King himself, who acts as the wild. He substitutes for other symbols to complete combinations, and crucially he doubles any winning combination he takes part in, which makes him the most valuable thing on the reels. The game logo serves as the scatter: land three or more of these and you unlock the free games, the part of Sun Wukong where the real scoring potential lives.

Choose Your Free Games

Rather than locking you into a single bonus, Sun Wukong lets you pick from three free spins modes, each balancing the number of spins against the size of the multiplier. Valley of the Sun grants 20 free games with a 2x multiplier, Mountain of Fruit and Flowers gives 10 free games at 4x, and Kingdom of Heaven awards 8 free spins with a 5x multiplier. The trade-off is clear: more spins at a smaller multiplier, or fewer spins that pay harder. All three rounds can be retriggered from within the feature, so a strong bonus can run well beyond its starting allocation.

Betting Range and Max Win

Stakes start low, from 0.01 per spin, which keeps the game approachable for casual players who just want to see the features without committing much. At the top end, the maximum win is worth up to 10,000x your stake, almost all of which comes from stacking the wild's doubling effect with the free games multipliers. That ceiling is what justifies sitting through the high-volatility lulls.

Theme and Presentation

The art leans on its mythological source, setting the reels against forest and mountain backdrops drawn from the Monkey King's journey. The character symbols carry the theme, while the lower-value icons follow the usual card-rank convention. Sound and animation do their job during wins and bonus triggers without trying to reinvent the genre. It is functional, clean presentation rather than a showcase, which fits a game that puts its weight on the free games rather than spectacle.

Play the Sun Wukong Demo

Because the volatility runs high and so much depends on which free games mode you favor, the demo is the sensible place to start.
