Aztec Slot: Cascading Reels in a Lost Civilisation

How the Avalanche Mechanic Works

The defining feature here is the Avalanche (or cascade). When symbols line up on one of the 20 paylines, they explode and disappear, and the symbols above drop down to fill the empty spaces while new ones arrive from above. A single spin can therefore produce several wins in a row as long as fresh combinations keep forming. This chain reaction is the heart of the game, and it also feeds into a separate Free Spins round when enough bonus symbols land.

Wilds and Multipliers

Two special symbols shape the wins. The Wild is an Aztec mask with its tongue out, modelled on the deity Tlaltecuhtli, and it substitutes for regular symbols to help complete lines. Working alongside the cascades is a multiplier element that can lift the value of consecutive wins during a chain, rewarding longer runs of falling symbols. The rest of the paytable leans on stylised animal icons such as eagles, snakes and fish, painted to look like relics set into stone.

The Free Spins Round

Landing three or more bonus symbols triggers the Free Spins (or Free Falls) feature, awarding 10 free spins. During this round the avalanche multipliers are boosted above their base-game values, climbing to x3, x6, x9 and x15 as consecutive cascades chain together, so a strong run of falling symbols can build into the game's biggest wins.

Volatility and What to Expect

Aztec Slot sits at a medium volatility level, which suits the cascade format well: you get a steady mix of modest wins from chained drops, with the occasional larger payout when a long avalanche builds. It is a balanced experience rather than an extreme high-variance chase. SmartSoft Gaming does not publish a single fixed return-to-player figure that we can confirm across sources, so we leave the exact RTP unstated rather than print a number we cannot verify.

Betting Range

Stakes run from 0.10 up to 100 per spin, giving the game a wide band that works for cautious players testing the cascades and for those who want to push the bet higher. Because the multiplier and avalanche action scale with your stake, it is worth settling on a bet size you are comfortable holding across a longer session.
