New measures are constantly being introduced to block European players online. For some casino players, you can no longer use a visa, MasterCard, or bank transfer. This will probably be a trend that will continue, with more and more players being blacklisted in favour of the gaming monopolies in their countries
But it is still not illegal for most countries to use online casinos operated by foreign companies. So, what payment methods can you use now and in the future to ensure that you can still enjoy online casinos?
Here are many solutions that are both secure and have far more benefits than traditional bank transfer and cards.
Trustly Bank Transfer
Trustly acts as a third party between your bank account and the casino you want to transfer money to. This is done by Trustly receiving your money and completing the purchase for you. So unlike a regular bank transfer, this instantly goes into your player account. Trustly does this by using either Paypal or Transferwise, which are partners to perform online transactions.
So your transactions to a casino are not blocked, in that your bank only sees that your money goes to Trustly, and not to a casino.
So is this sort of an illegal grey zone or loophole soon to close? - No. There are no regulations that say you cannot use such third party solutions yet. In fact, many European banks support Trustly for secure online transfers.
Trustly is also associated with many other payment services, not just casinos, and offers an extra link in the security for transferring money to any online stores and services online. But you should not ignore the fact that there may be sanctions and blockages here as well eventually.
Paysafecard
So what can you do if you are not allowed to use your Visa card to transfer money to online casinos? Paysafecard is an excellent solution that online casinos have used for a long time. This is a separate card you buy in the store and can transfer money to, and so on into your online casino.
A big advantage of this card is that you also actually limit your spending by constantly having to top up the amount you are depositing to casinos, as opposed to a Visa card that is directly linked to your bank account. Paysafecard has no direct solution for withdrawing money from a casino, but the card can be combined with a Skrill account, so you can transfer your winnings there, and use the card when you want to transfer.
E-wallets
Ewallets is a common term for solutions such as Paypal, Skrill, and Neteller. Paypal is unfortunately not available to Norwegian players, but both Skrill and Neteller have used ours for many years.
An Ewallet is simply an online digital wallet, which you can top up with funds you want to play for, or link to your debit or MasterCard.
This also works as a third-party solution, where the banks perceive the payment to Neteller and Skrill, but not where the money is transferred to from your e-wallet. Read more about Skrill and Neteller here to see all the benefits of these solutions.
Cryptocurrency
Bitcoin has become a public domain, and all that is needed is for online casinos to catch up with the trend as well. Unfortunately, this is not possible yet through a Malta-based casino. But curacao has approved such solutions for payments and withdrawals. The biggest advantage is that you manage all transactions yourself with cryptocurrency, and the transfer time depends on which cryptocurrency you choose to use.
Bitcoin has long been a big favourite among online gamblers. But there are many other cryptocurrencies that beat Bitcoin at both the speed of transfer transaction costs.
